Fun on a hike

Kristin and Steven took Noah on a hike at St Croix Falls. Kristin picked the trail. At first it looked OK but then it became a mountain trail. Good thing they have the SUV of strollers. Noah slept the entire time. Next time I am going to hook up the dogs to pull the stroller.

An event filled day....and night!

Well Noah and her Mom and Dad had a very event filled day on Wednesday. The expected arrival of the siding guy Keith and a very large dumpster arived today as we are getting new siding and windows on the house. He started work on a hot and sticky morning. Kristin then had to meet Steven at work as his work with Noah at Sister Kenny Rehabilitation http://www.allina.com/ahs/ski.nsf/page/history was holding a baby shower for Noah. The entire department came to the shower and held a pot luck for him. There was salads of all sorts, desserts such as a snicker salad, awesome pepperoni lasagna, meat ball and chicken wings...Etc. The staff all pitched in together and bought Noah a backpack that he can sit in and ride around on Dad's shoulders as they go hiking. It will be great.
That evening after a quick bite to eat at home, Mom and Dad had a new member visit at Zion Lutheran Church in Anokahttp://test2.beardog.net/index1.asp. While there mother nature wanted to go out on the last day of summer with a bang. The Anoka area and surrounding area was hit by a major storm and a few Tornadoes.http://www.crh.noaa.gov/mpx/2005Sep21Storm.html When it was "safe" Steven and Kristin left the church and made our way slowly home. Getting to were we live was very difficult as trees were down, and flach flooding was occurring. The house on Verdin street had only minor damage....Oddly enough it is going to be replaced...with the new siding and windows. The trees were mostly striped of the leaves and ground plants and hostas were destroyed. We were happy to be home and safe. God was watching out for us.

Guys Night Out

Well Kristin went to her stamping club on Tuesday night so Noah and Dad had a guys night out. What better way than to spend it shopping at the sportsman's warehouse! He Noah got his first education into the sporting world as he went shopping for a new camouflage coat, blaze orange jacket, fishing rod and of course duck decoys! He had a great time, so did Dad. Dad also learned on the way home that listening to country music loud calms a crying baby. Important to know.

Fat Rolls

Life has been busy for this little guy. Two weekends ago, he slept for 4 hours in a row at night for 3 days in a row! Mom and Dad didn't know what to do with all that sleep. but then he started a growth spurt and is back to eating 4-6 Oz every 1-2 hours.
Life is getting a bit better for Steven and Kristin. They went to a class on parenting, they went to a 30th birthday party and brought Noah, and Steven took the girls out hunting on grouse opener. At the Party Steven and Kristin could not help but notice the amount of "fertility" that was there. Either the people were new Moms and Dads, Pregnant couples, or people thinking about getting pregnant. Here are photos of Noah getting ready for the party and after. Sorry guys the picture of Noah sitting on the Keg were too dark to publish....next time we'll use flash.

Starting to smile?

Noah is working on his smile.

Grown in Minnesota!

Mom and Dad had a "date" if you can call it as we drove to an apple orchard that we both like. Today was a nice Indian summer day, windy but a nice day for a drive. The leaves are starting to change here, sumac and maple are beginning their transition into fall. Apple Jack Orchard http://www.applejackorchards.com/ is a quaint orchard along the banks of the crow river. Kristin and I enjoyed the day, as well as an apple dumpling and fritters with cinnamon ice cream. Noah attracted the attention as well as he was the only baby there. He got to participate with all the activities like some of the "big" boys do like riding the tractor and posing in front of the measuring stick.

Ok I'll take the one in the middle.

Noah has some fun today playing in a cart full of watermelon at the Apple Jack Orchard. Actually this is quite a great photo. Later in life when he asks where did I come from we can say the old story of finding him in a watermelon patch. Any way he is a good deal at only$3.50.

Double chins and fat thighs

Ok this is the only time in one's life that this is acceptable, even wanted. Noah is packing on the pounds and length. By rough estimate his is at 23.5 inches. Official measurement to be taken on Monday with the doctor. I hope to catch more of that on film to share.

Hair?

Ok this I don't quite understand but it deserves it special post. Noah has Steven's Chin and mouth, and Kristin's eyes but how the heck did he get Jon's hair?...Or lack there of? I just have to remember as a nameless Uncle once said. "God made a few good heads.....and the rest he put hair on."

Nick Grega visits Noah

The Grega's came over to visit on Sunday. It was a fun family event with the couples sharing and comparing stories of the new children and taking care of them. Jon and Steve even were able to break away for a game of bean bag toss and guy talk in the backyard, while the girls talked some more. Normally we would have sat and also drank a little beer, but that might make the sleep deprived parents tired. We had chips and salsa Steve made from the garden and BLT's with Brandywine tomatoes, slices of tomato big enough to fill the slice of bread. It was Yummy. Nick and Noah sat and grunted with each other, taking turns burping and passing gas. Noah fell asleep but Nick wanted to visit Noah as you can see in the picture. It was very good for the couples to get together as they both needed to let off some steam, share experiences and realize that they are not alone and crazy.

Thank You Sue Larson!

Thanks to Sue Larson who gave us the aquatic baby pleaser. A few nights ago it helped calm a fussy baby and thus a fussy daddy and mommy which all went to sleep.
Noah likes to play on his play mat with the new toy, and new mini quilt that Grandma Harrold made based on one at baby grand. It is black and white with baby visual patterns on it. Noah switches back and forth between one and then the other. Noah and the family went to baptism class today. Noah will be baptized in the near future when we can arrange a date with family to come attend this blessed event. We wnat ot thank all who are reading for all of the prayers, thoughts, well wishes, help and support. We could not have done it without you. THANKS!!

Noah's Tummy Math

Noah is an eating machine. He eats on average 5oz a feeding, 10 feedings a day or 50 oz a day. One gallon is 120 oz. He is now switched over to formula. Each can of formula makes 190 oz of fluid. A can costs $20 dollars on sale with a coupon. So about 10.5 cents an oz, ( by the way gasoline is about 2.5 cents an oz) about 53 cents a bottle, $5.30 a day, $159 dollars a month, or about $1908 a year....that is if he only eats 5 oz each feeding. Last night at 4am he wanted 6. OH BOY!!! Anyway Noah continues to grow and grow. We are looking forward to the 12th of September when he can be measured and weighed at his checkup. Mom and Dad are really looking forward to the first sleep through the night. Right now you could set a watch to his stomach and feedings, about every 2.15 hours. For Noah it is not as if he has night and day "right" or Mixed Up, it is that he is on feed me now....OK I'll sleep now schedule. He really is quite funny to watch. Some times he goes from sound a sleep to the loudest baby cry in about 10 seconds when he is hungry. Other times he gives us about 2-3 min with warning signs such as chewing on hands and grunting. When he is awake he likes looking at contrasts and moving objects, he likes looking at Marta the black dog more the the Chessie (brown). Two days ago he was awake for 5 hours! We hoped it would have balanced out with his sleep afterward, but alas it was not to be. His stomach got the best of him. Here is a picture of him waking up wanting to be fed.
