A Quick Visit With a Friend

Steven's Friend Julie Vangelos came over with her husband and two adorable children for a quick visit to see Noah, Kiss his Cheeks and say "Hi" to Steven and Kristin. It was good to see them and their children. Anthony showed Steven What to expect in 2-3 years. Wow Julie you did great!

Christmas!

Noah celebrated his first Christmas surrounded by the Love of his family, four generations of Schergers and Dobmeyers. Thanks to all for a generous, caring and blessed Christmas.

Great Grandma's Little Snicklefritz!

Great Grandma Dobmeyer met Little Noah for the first time. She enjoyed him a great deal, marveled at his activity, discussed and advised over his cold and his teething, and gave him a nick name....Snicklefritz! Thanks Great Grandma!! We All Love You!!!!

A Christmas Trip To Ohio

Noah had quite an adventure over the Christmas holiday as he traveled with Mom and Dad to Ohio. He did OK on the flight out and back despite having a cold and cutting his first teeth. More on teeth as they develop. When he arrived he was met with Love and affection by his Grandma and Grandpa Scherger and then later by Great Grandma, Uncle Mike and Aunt Laurie. Life was a bit different there with not the usual accommodations of home but he got cleaned up and enjoyed the holiday. Thanks to Steve's Mom and Dad as they did a Great Job of welcoming baby Noah to their home.

Nicholas

Yesterday the Gregas came over to celebrate Christmas with us. Here's a picture of Nick and Noah riding together on Steven's leg. This is Noah's latest favorite game. Despite being 5 weeks younger than Nick, he is still bigger than him, although Nick is doing a good job recently of catching up in height.

For all those curious about Noah's noisy breathing, the doctor believes it is a fairly common condition called Laryngeal Malacia. Basically all that means is that there is a softening of the structures around his Larynx. There is a collapse of the supraglottic laryngeal structures. This produces symptoms on inspiration since these floppy structures, such as the epiglottis and aryepiglottic folds, may be pulled into the airway during inspiration. As normal cartilaginous development occurs, symptoms improve. Typically they outgrow this anywhere from 6 months to a year, although for some it goes a little longer.

Rice Cereal!

Noah started rice cereal yesterday. He wore his "What is this? I'm not sure I like it" expression initially, but was soon swallowing away. This picture was obviously before the cereal, taken earlier in the day by his Grandma Harrold.

Cousins

On Saturday Noah got to meet 2 of his second cousins, Michi and Ken, who live with their mom and dad, Tim and Naoko Soderberg (Kristin's cousins) in Morris, MN. Michi, pictured, is 7 and Ken is almost 2 1/2.

Pajama Party!

Noah went to his first pajama party last Friday evening. While 4 of us moms from "Baby & Me" class, and "New Parent Connection Group" got together for some gabbing and treats, the "kids" hung out in their PJ's. From left to right is Levi, Ashley, Noah, and Gabriel. The other three are all about 1 month older than Noah, but he has Ashley and Gabriel beat in size!

Levi

This is Levi (on the left), a friend of Noah's from ECFE "Baby & Me" class. Although they are the 2nd and 3rd youngest, they are both the brutes of the class! Levi is newly sporting 2 bottom teeth!

UFF DA!!!! Naked babies and Lutefisk

Noah just loves to be naked! After the bath time with Mom is a great time. He enjoys his tummy time, and rolling over on the towel on the center island of the kitchen after his bath.

Noah was also a great hit at the Lutefisk dinner Kristin and I went to at Church last night. We told everyone that we were going to try him on his first (semi) solid food tonight. Lots of laughs. Actually the meal was good. (we mostly ate meatballs) but we did enjoy the dinner with all the Scandinavian trimmings. Uff Da!!!

Noah's 1st Christmas Tree

Noah joined in the annual Scherger Christmas tradition of going to Rum River Tree Farm and cutting our own Christmas tree. Our friend Paul joined us, along with Marta and Cayenne, of course.

Learning about the High Chair

This weekend we introduced Noah to his high chair, in preparation for starting rice cereal soon. Although
he looks pretty small in it, we're sure that will soon change. He was very interested in the tray and investigated it with his hands for quite a while before getting bored and crying to get out.

After the Turkey...

A late evening snooze while perusing "Black Friday's" deals. Steven had to work today and the big turkey meal finished him off. Noah helped me celebrate my birthday quite early this AM, and after hitting his formula hard today is done in as well.

We had a nice day today. Mom and dad came over to fix the big meal and spend time with Noah. He showed off his new skills in his Exersaucer and Johnny Jump-Up, as well as his increasing smiles, verbalization, socialization, and arm functioning.

Monday I had an early birthday present. Steven and I went alone to see the new "Harry Potter" movie while some new friends watched Noah. We met Heidi & Matt, and their son Gabriel (1 month older than Noah) in our Baby Massage class and my New Parent Group. This outing was our first date alone together since August 7th! Heidi and Matt did wonderfully and claimed Noah was an angel.

Thanksgiving has been a very special day for us this year. A year ago at this time Noah was probably only a small cluster of tiny cells. Today he is a very healthy (18 pounds if our scale at home is correct) and happy baby boy that brings us great joy. Although Steven and I had a rough start in the beginning of this little guy's life, we have had unbelievable family support. We could not have done it without them. We are incredibly thankful for all of our family and friends, and our healthy "little" guy. And don't forget Marta, Cayenne, Tigger and Espresso too!

Fish outfit

Here is Noah in one of Dad's favorite outfits. Too bad he is almost outgrowing it.

A trip to Cabela's!!!

Noah had another Guys night out when Kristin went to Stamp club. Dad took him to his first trip to the New Cabela's opened up at Rogers, Minnesota. Noah liked looking at all the big stuffed animals (taxidermy). Noah got hungry and Dad fed him on a bench by the waders section as Dad talked to him about the different camouflage and the benefits of thinsulate. He enjoyed the dinner conversation.
